Jesus College May Ball 2023
BLOOM with us this June as Jesus College May Ball invites you to enjoy a night of creation, classification and genesis. Allow us to introduce you to the natural world but not as you know it, as we merge territories and focalise what existed before us. Nature. The Earth. WHEN WILL I GET MY E-TICKET FOR THE BALL?
Upon payment for the ticket, you will receive an email with a QR code attached. This is your ticket. Please keep it safe, and don't show it to anybody - including screenshotting, and sharing. Codes can only be scanned once, and you will not be allowed to enter the Ball if someone has already scanned your code. If you have bought a ticket but haven't received the email after 5 minutes please check your spam folder, if you still can't find it you can re-send the email from the my tickets page on the ticketing platform. There are known issues with hotmail.co.uk, outlook.com, sky.com and yahoo email addresses, if you use one and have not received your ticket please wait around 2 hours before re-sending your ticket.
I CAN'T MAKE THE BALL ANYMORE - WHAT SHOULD I DO?
The Jesus May Ball doesn't offer refunds - however, it is possible to transfer the ticket into another name, although there is a fee for this (all of which is donated to charity!). We also have a waitlist of people who are looking to buy a ticket from someone. We forbid guests from selling tickets for a profit, and would like to urge those who are looking for a ticket to apply through the waitlist first to avoid high markups. If you suspect you have been offered a ticket at a markup, let us know as we will cancel tickets sold at above market rate.
WHY IS THE NAME CHANGE FEE £40?
The name change fee exists to protect students from prolific reselling at inflated prices (i.e. >£190) which is expressly prohibited by our Terms and Conditions. Jesus May Ball does not profit from the name change fee, and 100% of revenue is split between our 4 chosen charities.
WHAT ARE YOUR COMMITMENTS TO SUSTAINABILITY?
This year, we are aiming to make Jesus May Ball 2023 our most sustainable yet. We are taking important steps to improve the sustainability of the Ball's material and energy usage, waste system, food and drink, transportation and communication. In order to assess the sustainability of the Ball through an independent review, we are participating in Cambridge University Environmental Consulting Society's Sustain-a-Ball accreditation scheme, which consists of 38 individual targets. This year we are not only aiming for a Platinum-level certification, as we have achieved in previous years, but are working to develop a long-term plan to leave a more sustainable legacy for future Balls. More information about our sustainability strategies will be announced in the run-up to the Ball.

CHARITIES
There is the option to donate to charity upon purchase of your ticket, which we hope you will consider, our recomended amount is £3. This year, the Committee is supporting the following charities:

CAMFED envisions a world in which every child is educated, protected, respected and valued, and grows up to turn the tide of poverty. As the most effective strategy to tackle poverty and inequality, CAMFED multiplies educational opportunities for girls and empowers young women to become leaders of change. Our focus is on girls and young women in rural areas of sub-Saharan Africa. This is where girls face acute disadvantage and where their empowerment will have a transformative impact.

Cambridge Street Aid is an award-winning initiative that provides practical help to people who live or have lived on the streets. We use your donations to raise grant funds, to which people who live or have lived on the streets can apply. Cambridge Street Aid works alongside other local support agencies including Jimmy's Night Shelter, Wintercomfort, Cambridge Cyrenians and Riverside to help people leave the street behind for good.

Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre offers specialist emotional, therapeutic and advocacy support services to local women and girls who have been subjected to sexual violence or abuse. CRCC lacks secure, long-term funding and so all money obtained through donation is crucial in ensuring that these services continue. Unfortunately, the pandemic and current cost of living crisis has seen an increase in demand, with them now supporting their highest ever number of women and girls in their 40 year history. All donations will help them to keep up with the ever-increasing demand and bridge the deficit between available provisions and individuals in need of support.

Cool Earth exists to champion the relationship between people, rainforest and climate. We raise and give cash direct to indigenous people and local communities, to fund projects that create choice, tackle the root causes of deforestation and protect vital carbon sinks. This is our mission. To back people, to protect the rainforest and fight the climate crisis.
