There are those that rap, and those that rap well; then there are those
that transcend the confines of hip hop culture to become credible,
commercial, mainstream pop acts - Kanye, Jay-Z, Eminem, for instance.
But it's unfair to compare Professor Green to any of the aforementioned;
utterly British, uniquely inimitable, if anything; his closest equivalent
is Lily Allen.
Littering his lyrics with wry pop culture references, a sharp sense of humour
and an honesty rarely found in rap music right now, Professor Green is one of
the most exciting talents to emerge in 2010. With the UK charts increasingly
full of MCs, now, more than ever, pop is ready for an artist that does more
than merely rap well. Lucky then that Professor Green is truly and genuinely
unique.

Multi-award winning collective of turntablist DJs, Scratch Perverts’
Tony Vegas and Prime Cuts need little introduction. Straddling dubstep,
hip hop, drum & bass and anything that smashes a dance, the Scratch Perverts
are the ultimate club-rockers. The mix-masters have been forging reputations
since the mid-‘90s, with a brace of World DMC Team titles and an assortment
of mix awards to their name. Scratch Perverts’ distinctive live show are
legendary, blending hip hop techniques with raw bass-heavy dance beats
and wordy rhymes to create a full on party style mix, infused with contemporary,
current selections, and plenty of dubstep. With influences as varied as Kool
Herc and Dillinja, it’s not surprising that the Scratch Perverts describe
their style of hip-hop as “a celebration of all kinds of music just by its
very nature”. Indeed the varied and kaleidoscopic beats should prove to be
a highlight of the night for all.
